Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick: Fig

The lowdown

While I am not generally a super pinky sort of person and I find the bubblegumminess of this lip to be a bit unflattering on me, I like this lip okay. The lipstick is very light on the lip and I found it especially non-sticky, always a plus. Again, as with many Bite Beauty lipsticks, it is not a super opaque color, so my lip color peeks through, but it's nothing a good liner wouldn't fix. I generally prefer not to line, however, and search out lipsticks with a bit more heft.

The lowdown

Of all the Bite Beauty lipsticks I have tried so far (more coming soon!), this is one of my favorites because it is a bit more opaque than many of the other colors. While it is a thicker lipstick, it remains moisturizing, which is always appreciated! Also I find this color pretty flattering, something one could easily wear to class or work without drawing too much attention. Then again, many of the looks on this blog are all about the excessively eye-catching, but it's always nice to have some solid quiet lips in your back pocket! This is definitely a fave for me.

Rock a modest lip on occasion!

The lowdown

I love this color! It's very sweet, almost as sweet as the taste of the lipstick itself, which I got a little hint of while applying... mmmmm =) According to Bite Beauty, this lipstick is "healthy enough to eat", but they forgot to mention delicious!

That said, as with other Bite products I've tried, this lipstick is quite slick and a bit thin. Up close my very pigmented lip color shows right through, but at a distance they take on a luminous, light bubblegum tone that I quite like.

The lowdown

Full disclosure: I was not happy thinking about trying this color out because I assumed it was going to look awful on me. I think in the close-ups it makes my lips look sort of cold and weird, but I like how it looks when you can see it in the context of my face! The lilac tone gives it an almost greyish cast, and not at all in an unflattering way.

As with most of the Bite lip products I've used, he consistency of the lipstick is a bit slippery and I prefer a drier matte finish, but Cava feels moisturizing and will never need a dryness-alleviating chapstick intervention.

This is a rather soft lip, but I still like it!

Rock a soft lip sometimes!  =D

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tar: Melange

The lowdown

Super matte, super light on the lip... the consistency is perfect! I felt the application was a little splotchy on my super-pigmented lips, but overall a great color and a great feel. I find the lip tars a little drying, even with a primer, so after a few hours I like to apply a little chapstick over them and that seems to work great.

The look

I blended Melange with OCC's Grandma to give a more forceful color. It darkened up a bit, became less chalky and took on more of a coral hue; beautiful!
